Plant Maintenance Technician 2 Clean Water Services - 3.3 Hillsboro, OR Job Details Full-time $46.31 - $48.63 an hour 21 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Flexible spending account Tuition reimbursement Employee discount Retirement plan Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description The Position The Water Resource Recovery Operations and Services (WRRD) department is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician 2 for Pump Stations. This position performs skilled mechanical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of systems, equipment and fixtures in a wastewater treatment facility and/or remote pump stations. Essential Functions (The essential functions listed below are not intended to reflect all duties that may be assigned to this classification. Clean Water Services (CWS) may augment duties and/or essential functions at its discretion. Additionally, some incumbents may not perform all Essential Functions) Performs skilled technical work using hand and power tools in the maintenance, repair of equipment and machinery in wastewater treatment plants and pump stations which may require confined space entries; adheres to safety policies and procedures. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance, calibrates and/or services equipment according to plans and specifications. Maintains records of maintenance performed. Monitors equipment and performs inspections; troubleshoots, diagnoses and addresses issues; schedules repairs; assists in general housekeeping tasks. Installs, repairs, replaces, and modifies pumps, controllers, bearings, seals, hydraulic pipes, and timing devices. Fully utilizes the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) in accordance with workflow processes. Prepares and submits reports; reviews parts, materials and equipment requirements and initiates requests. Reads meters, gauges, and instruments; reports and records any failures or operating difficulties. Cleans, lubricates and paints equipment. Evaluates equipment, tools, and parts and makes recommendations for equipment purchases, replacements, and repairs. Assists with maintaining inventory and supply of replacement parts. May be required to respond to emergency situations after normal working hours and be subject to serve on emergency stand-by alert and call out status on a rotational basis. Performs corrective maintenance on failed equipment and systems. Schedules work to be performed by the work team, review team members' work, provide feedback to supervisor as necessary, handle after hour emergencies when required. Drives a CWS or personal vehicle for work related purposes. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF
Advanced mechanical principles and practices for repair and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, parts and machinery Hydraulic and pneumatic principles and practices Parts, functions, and repair procedures for pumps, pipes, valves, motors, and related industrial mechanical equipment Sealants and lubrications Bearings and bearing surfaces Pertinent safety procedures and practices. Safe driving practices
SKILL IN
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems Maintaining accurate and complete maintenance records Use of precision measuring devices Advanced plumbing and pipefitting Advanced welding and fabrication Lifting, hoisting, and rigging Use of hand and power tools Use of computers and computer software for the following: scheduling, data management of the computer maintenance and management systems (CMMS), reports and office applications Training, and evaluating the work of other maintenance personnel Safe driving practices
ABILITY TO
Read and interpret plans, equipment specifications, operations and maintenance manuals, blueprints, sketches, industrial and shop drawings Adheres to safety policies and procedures Read and follow standard operating procedures (SOP) Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Operate effectively in a team environment Carry out duties in a safe, professional and respectful manner Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Understand and follow complex written and oral instructions Plan testing procedures Determine the parts and equipment needed for system installation and repair Troubleshoot a wide variety of malfunctions Recognize and determine the best method for correcting a wide variety of malfunctions
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. 5 years experience as a Millwright, or Plant Maintenance Technician (PMT) in a wastewater facility or related field; Accredited certificate, degree, trade classes, Millwright or approved related training program preferred. Upon selection, candidates must possess and maintain a valid State of Oregon driver's license.
