Job Description

Maintenance II Summary The Maintenance II position is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability, performance, and safety of production and facility equipment across two locations. This role performs and coordinates advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on winery and packaging systems, with a strong focus on minimizing downtime, supporting efficient production, and protecting finished wine quality. Working cross-functionally with Packaging, Winemaking, and Operations, this position plays a critical role in ensuring packaging line uptime, optimizing changeovers, and maintaining equipment to meet production and quality standards. Comply with all safety regulations and maintain clean, organized work areas. Independently perform advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial beverage processing and packaging equipment, including but not limited to depalletizers, conveyors, pumps, fillers, labelers, case/tray erectors and packers, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. Monitor and improve packaging line performance by tracking downtime, identifying root causes of equipment failures, and implementing corrective actions to increase uptime and efficiency. Schedule, perform, and document preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and plant facilities. Analyze equipment performance trends to support a transition from reactive and preventative maintenance toward predictive maintenance practices. Diagnose equipment issues, replace and repair parts, test systems, and make necessary adjustments to ensure reliable operation. Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs during active production, prioritizing issues to minimize disruption. Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure product quality specifications are met, including fill accuracy, carbonation consistency, dissolved oxygen control, and package integrity. Develop, refine, and standardize changeover procedures to reduce downtime and improve repeatability across SKUs and formats. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documents to perform maintenance and repairs. Detect faulty operations and defective materials and communicate necessary corrections. Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide troubleshooting training to Machine Operators. Identify and manage critical spare parts inventory based on equipment risk, usage, and lead times. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, downtime records, and repair documentation to support continuous improvement. Partner with Packaging, Winemaking, and Operations teams to align maintenance priorities with production schedules and quality objectives. Coordinate maintenance activities across two facilities to ensure consistent equipment reliability and minimal disruption. Work with OEMs, vendors, and suppliers to optimize equipment performance and reliability. Ensure proper implementation of safety systems including lockout/tagout, confined space protocols, and safe chemical handling practices. Perform a variety of plumbing, carpentry, and general facility maintenance functions. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a temporary full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm (with the possibility of transitioning to Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm once considered autonomously capable of completing Friday PM work), and Wednesday-Saturday, 7am-5:30pm during the harvest season (typically mid-August through November). Overtime and weekend work may be required without notice depending on circumstance or production needs. Required Education and Experience High School diploma/GED, or an equivalent number of years of education and production experience. 5+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC. Ability to read and understand plans, blueprints, and schematics. Preferred Education and Experience An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance. Production equipment and PLC experience. 10+ years of experience in a production and manufacturing environment. Possess welding and fabrication skills. $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
