Job Description

Job Title:
Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role supports the Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment. You will perform preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, and help ensure the reliability and safety of automation systems. In addition, you will mentor junior technicians and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. Responsibilities Repair and maintain material handling equipment (MHE) and pneumatic systems throughout the facility to ensure reliable and safe operation. Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, including conveyors, sorters, robotics, and related control systems. Perform predictive and preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical, electrical, and control components to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with material handling equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and control system faults, and implement effective corrective actions. Use blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to identify issues, plan repairs, and complete installations accurately. Apply maintenance management practices, including the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), to track work orders, parts usage, and maintenance history. Support automation and control systems by identifying problems, performing basic data analysis, and collaborating on solutions to improve system performance. Demonstrate and enforce safety standards in all maintenance activities, ensuring that work complies with facility safety policies and procedures. Mentor and guide junior technicians by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and safe work habits to support their development. Assist with maintenance supervision tasks as needed, including coordinating work, prioritizing tasks, and supporting project execution. Participate in risk management and continuous improvement efforts, such as identifying recurring issues, proposing improvements, and supporting projects that enhance equipment reliability. Work flexible shifts, including Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday schedules with 5:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m., or 7:00 p.m. start times, as required by operations. Essential Skills 2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE), automated conveyor systems, or related mechanical/controls equipment. 2+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventive maintenance procedures. 2+ years of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics. 2+ years of experience demonstrating and following safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment. 1+ years of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing material handling equipment (MHE). Conveyor maintenance experience, including installation, repair, and adjustment. Hydraulic systems experience, including troubleshooting and repair. Strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical systems. Experience with maintenance management and preventive maintenance planning. Familiarity with automation and control systems used in material handling and robotics applications. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). 1+ years of experience working with computers and Microsoft Office products and applications. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays. Ability to move up to 49 lbs and stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with robotics, sorters, and other automated material handling technologies. Exposure to data analysis for maintenance and reliability improvement. Understanding of project management principles in a maintenance or engineering environment. Familiarity with Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting in a high-throughput distribution or manufacturing environment. Experience mentoring junior technicians or supporting maintenance supervision activities. Why Work Here?
