Job Title:
Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining high-speed manufacturing, blow molding (EBM/SBM), and packaging equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation with minimal downtime. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and support production teams in a clean, automated environment. Responsibilities Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance on high-speed manufacturing equipment, including blow molders, conveyors, packers, and related machinery to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using appropriate tools such as multimeters, PLC interfaces, and standard hand tools. Diagnose issues with blow molding (EBM/SBM) and packaging equipment and implement timely repairs to minimize unplanned downtime. Support production teams by setting up machines, adjusting equipment, and ensuring that production lines run efficiently and safely. Apply and follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records, documenting work performed, parts used, and equipment status in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as MaintainX. Update equipment records and maintenance history to support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives. Assist with the installation, upgrading, and debugging of new plant equipment, including automated and robotic systems. Read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics to diagnose issues and plan repairs or installations. Use a variety of hand tools and industrial tools to perform repairs, adjustments, and component replacements. Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and production personnel to identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions. Follow established industrial maintenance practices and procedures to maintain consistent standards of quality and safety. Ensure all work areas and equipment remain clean, organized, and compliant with facility standards. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in a mechanical position in a manufacturing or similar industrial environment. Generally requires 5+ years of mechanical experience, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing setting. Completion of relevant technical schooling or an apprenticeship program in a mechanical, industrial maintenance, or related field. Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and procedures, including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, and air distribution components. Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including pumps, hoses, cylinders, and control valves. Experience with electrical systems in machinery, including 480V 3-phase power. Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and use PLC interfaces to diagnose issues. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for mechanical and electrical systems. Proficiency in using multimeters and other diagnostic tools for electrical and electronic troubleshooting. Skill in using hand tools and industrial tools for repair, assembly, and maintenance tasks. Knowledge of safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and proper use of PPE. Physical ability to bend, crawl, and lift up to 40 pounds to access and service equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues under time pressure. Work Environment You will work in a clean, automated manufacturing environment that incorporates advanced robotic systems and clean room operations. The facility emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to strict process and safety standards. Work involves hands-on interaction with high-speed equipment, blow molding and packaging lines, and industrial electrical and mechanical systems. The role requires regular movement around the production floor, including bending, crawling, and lifting up to 40 pounds, while using appropriate PPE and following established safety procedures.
