Job Description
Job Summary The Laborer performs manual and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Employees in this position assist with maintaining water and sewer lines, operating equipment, repairing leaks, and ensuring safe and efficient public utility services for the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, sewer lines, hydrants, valves, and related infrastructure. Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and perform general labor duties using hand and power tools. Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies. Operate light equipment and vehicles such as dump trucks, skid steers, pumps, and compactors. Respond to emergency water or sewer service calls, including after-hours emergencies when required. Perform routine inspections and maintenance of utility systems and equipment. Clean and maintain work areas, vehicles, tools, and equipment. Follow all safety procedures and traffic control requirements. Assist skilled operators, mechanics, and technicians as needed. Maintain accurate work records and reports.
