The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining various equipment, including HPP and VAS equipment, building and facilities equipment, powered industrial equipment, and stationary equipment. This role involves performing routine preventative maintenance tasks, diagnosing issues, and collaborating with production to ensure equipment operates efficiently. Responsibilities Repair and maintain high-pressure processing equipment, feed and removal systems, and VAS equipment to minimize downtime. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance checks, test sensors, and replace wear parts according to schedule. Conduct major preventative maintenance requiring machine downtime and rebuilds, such as wedge, plug, and vessel alignment. Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment like controls, sensors, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, and timers. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical components such as motors, drive chains, sprockets, pulleys, conveyor belts, and bearings. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace pneumatic equipment, including hydronic and hydraulic seals, high-pressure components, air compressors, pumps, hoses, and cylinders. Perform preventative maintenance inspections on plant equipment such as conveyors, water heaters, HVAC, water pumps, heat exchangers, evaporators, and fans. Maintain all maintenance tools in good working order on the shop floor shadow board. Ensure adequate stock of commonly needed preformed tubing and key spare parts on the shadow board. Test equipment before returning it to the machine operator or lead, ensuring all tools and replaced parts are removed and machinery is left in a sanitary condition. Adhere to the facility's document control policy following training. Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards, maintaining work areas in a sanitary manner according to GMP requirements. Handle minor tasks related to the duties of the position. Minimize maintenance downtime by diagnosing issues quickly and accurately, returning equipment to service safely and correctly the first time. Maintain all tools in safe working order in toolboxes, cabinets, and shadow boards. Maintain commonly used spare parts at expected levels, close to the point of use. Additional Responsibilities Be on call as needed to support the business, including rotating weekend work for major preventative maintenance tasks and machine rebuilding. Spend the majority of time on the shop floor to interact with line leads and machine operators and observe machine performance to identify potential issues early. Provide parts and supplies inventory information or other report information to the leadership team. Minimum Qualifications Competency in site-specific OEM (Avure or Hiperbaric) required. Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, parts manuals, equipment specifications, and repair manuals. Completion of a certified OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour training course and Vector Solutions Electrical Technician training. Flexibility with work schedule and duties when the location environment changes. Weekend work or occasional shift changes required to cover shutdown work and staff absences. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Effective communication skills in English (speak, read, and write). Ability to balance productivity, quality, and safety in a fast-paced environment. Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or 2 years of previous maintenance experience at a basic level. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a food processing or refrigerated warehouse facility is strongly preferred. Welding experience preferred but not required. Experience with ammonia or glycol refrigeration systems is preferred but not required. Working Conditions Work within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production facility, withstanding refrigeration temperatures for up to 4 hours at a time. Occasional work in a freezer (0°F) may be required. Considerable physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally more. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job. Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring basic safety precautions. Potential exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Facilities may process, pack, and store products containing allergenic food ingredients as referenced by the FDA, requiring team members to work with these ingredients.
