Douglas Education Center - Full-Time Position Summary Douglas Education Center is seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician / Custodian to support the day-to-day upkeep of multiple educational buildings and student residential facilities. This position combines custodial services, general labor, and light maintenance work. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment. What You'll Do Maintain multiple facilities including classrooms, offices, and student residential spaces Complete minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, fixtures, and basic equipment Assist with general maintenance including basic carpentry, basic plumbing, basic HVAC, basic electrical, painting, and basic mechanical tasks Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and hand tools safely Support interior and exterior building maintenance and repairs Perform seasonal outdoor duties including snow removal, ice control, and lawn care Monitor building security by locking doors and ensuring facilities are secure after hours Check equipment and facilities to prevent safety hazards or damage Set up and break down rooms for meetings, classes, and special events Move, stock, and distribute supplies and materials as needed Perform general labor tasks and assist maintenance team with projects Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors to ensure high cleanliness standards Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms regularly Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and waste materials Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance or safety issues Follow all safety procedures to prevent injury to self, others, or property Complete additional duties as assigned What We're Looking For Minimum of 3 years of related maintenance, custodial, or general labor experience Demonstrated strong work ethic and dependability Punctual, responsible, and trustworthy High attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team Basic working knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures Comfortable performing physically demanding work Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds Valid Pennsylvania driver's license (required) Ability to pass background check and drug screening Respectful attitude toward students, staff, and all individuals Preferred Skills Hands-on experience in basic carpentry, basic plumbing, basic HVAC, basic electrical, and/or painting work Experience operating maintenance equipment and tools Familiarity with facility maintenance best practices Work Environment & Expectations Work across multiple buildings and indoor/outdoor environments Exposure to varying weather conditions for outdoor duties Physically active role including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods Why Join Us?
