Immediately Job Description Purpose Of Position The School Maintenance Technician I plays a foundational role in ensuring the school's facilities are in good working order, safe, and conducive for learning. This entry-level position supports the maintenance team in a range of tasks related to the upkeep, repair, and day-to-day maintenance of school facilities. Essential Functions Assist in performing regular inspections of the school's facilities to identify maintenance needs. Carry out general handyman duties. Support the maintenance team in preventative maintenance routines. Respond to work orders submitted through the organizations work order management system. Ensure that maintenance tools and equipment are cleaned and stored properly after use. Organize storage areas, keeping them free of clutter. Handle the proper disposal of waste materials from maintenance tasks. Provide assistance to skilled technicians (e.g., electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians) during more complex maintenance or repair tasks. Follow instructions and learn from experienced staff to build hands-on skills. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures. Report any potential safety hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor promptly. Wear required protective equipment during tasks. Assist with landscaping tasks, such as mowing, trimming, and planting. Support efforts in snow removal, salting, and other seasonal tasks. Provide regular updates on task progress to the Maintenance Supervisor. Work collaboratively with the broader maintenance team to ensure effective communication and coordination. Performs other duties as requested and/or assigned. Other Functions Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Good communication skills. Successful completion of a background check.KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education Required:
High School or equivalent; Technical school training highly desirable.Experience Required:
Basic understanding of tools and maintenance techniques.Other Qualifications:
