Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment used in production. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance across the facility, including heating systems, sheet metal and roofing components, and sprinkler systems. The position involves hands-on work with industrial machinery and requires a solid understanding of plant maintenance practices while working under some supervision. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment used in production operations. Perform routine and corrective maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operation. Carry out heating system maintenance and care to support safe and reliable facility operations. Complete sheet metal and roofing repairs as needed to maintain the integrity of the building and production areas. Conduct sprinkler system maintenance and testing to help ensure proper operation and safety compliance. Perform greasing, oiling, and other lubrication tasks on machinery according to maintenance schedules. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to assemble, disassemble, repair, and adjust equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues using schematics and technical documentation. Assist with welding and fabrication tasks related to equipment repair or modification. Follow established maintenance procedures and work under supervision to complete assigned tasks. Document maintenance activities accurately and communicate equipment issues and repair needs to supervisors or team members. Support a safe work environment by following safety procedures and reporting hazards or equipment malfunctions promptly. Essential Skills Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical production equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems and components. Practical knowledge of hydraulics, including hydraulic systems, valves, and related components. Experience with troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a production or industrial setting. Ability to read and work from schematics and technical diagrams to support troubleshooting and repairs. Proficiency using hand tools and basic power tools for repair, assembly, and maintenance tasks. Basic welding skills to support equipment repair and light fabrication work. Ability to perform lubrication tasks such as greasing and oiling machinery according to maintenance standards. Capability to work under some supervision while following established maintenance procedures and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment. Familiarity with heating systems maintenance in an industrial facility. Exposure to sprinkler system maintenance and testing in a plant setting. Comfort working on a fixed 2nd shift schedule (4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday). Work Environment This position operates in a metal manufacturing facility with active production equipment and industrial machinery. The role follows a 2nd shift schedule, working from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Work is hands-on and may involve standing for extended periods, working around noise, and handling tools and equipment in a shop or plant setting. Safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment are an integral part of the daily work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Wilkes-Barre, PA.
