Job Overview Working under direct supervision, this position performs maintenance of the building facilities and support equipment; and hazardous waste support. Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties Performs basic repair for building systems, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural and cosmetic. Performs basic building and grounds maintenance. Assist with ice and snow removal on walkways to ensure safety standards. Interact with cleaning company to assure cleaning needs are met. Help maintain HVAC system. Provide backup coverage for Custodial Assistant job duties. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. Perform other related duties as required. Support hazardous waste activities. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Hazardous Waste Coordinator Certification. A minimum of two years hands on maintenance experience with electrical skills. Must have a strong knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices in general building maintenance. Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical testing devices. Must be able to identify problems or potential problems and take initiative to correct them. Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A general knowledge of custodial functions including (but not limited to) electrical, carpentry, custodial, etc.
