Facility Technician - Part Time

This position is located at the City of Goose Creek Recreation Complex, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd, Goose Creek, SC 29445. The schedule consists of weekend shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs minor repairs, maintenance, and custodial duties at various city facilities; Assists in minor repairs and maintenance; Performs minor buildings repairs, including but not limited to, HVAC filter replacement, light bulb replacement, and other general repairs and maintenance; Mop, dust, and clean floors; Vacuum carpeted areas; Clean restrooms and breakroom; replenish supplies; Dust furniture including but not limited to desks, cubicles, and blinds; Clean baseboards; Clean glass and windows; Remove trash from buildings. Assists in maintaining cleaning supply inventory; Picks up litter and blows/sweeps parking lots, walkways, entry areas, and breezeway; Serves as back up to co-workers; and Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent. One-year experience performing custodial and light maintenance work, or related field. Valid South Carolina Driver's License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of cleaning and custodial practices and general repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of safety practices involved in building and custodial work and general repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of department policies and procedures. Skill in the operation of equipment and machines used in cleaning and building maintenance. Skill in basic math and reading. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to use hand tools, including shovel, rake, and pitchfork. Ability to perform heavy lifting. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed inside assigned building and outdoor facilities. Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed with exposure to risk. Daily exposure to respiratory and chemical hazards. Seasonal exposure to extreme temperature and wetness and/or humidity with some outside work. Employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and cold or inclement weather.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Continuously requires vision, foot controls, balancing, hearing, and twisting. Frequently requires standing, walking, lifting, carrying, handling, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and talking. Medium strength demands include exerting up to 10 pounds constantly, 10-25 pounds frequently, and 20-50 pounds occasionally.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Occasionally requires time pressures and frequent change of tasks.
