POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the plant and operations for the Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. Provides for safe, sustainable, and attractive recreational opportunities for residents and the general public; and ensures effective and efficient operation of the arena.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned. 1. Oversees the performance of tasks related to the maintenance of the ice surfaces (including all refrigeration equipment) as well as other areas of the buildings. Including minor carpentry and construction projects. 2. Performs and oversees operation and training of others in the operations of various Arena vehicles and equipment. Including Ice Resurfacing, maintaining machines and the preparation and removal of ice seasonally. 3. Oversee performance of tasks related to the repair and maintenance of all Arena systems, including dehumidifiers, electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, heating and air conditioning equipment, and sound systems. Schedules all necessary maintenance relative to the physical plant and mechanical systems to ensure continuous operations. 4. Oversees staff schedules and supervises and evaluates Arena employees. Recruits, screens and works with the Ice arena manager to hire said employees. 5. At the direction of the Ice Arena Superintendent, this position provides oversight of the operations of all major events, tournaments, games, and other special events. 6. Researches, recommends, develops and implements procedures for operational efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability, and safety. 7. Monitors all building system operations for effective operations. 8. Orders the necessary goods and materials needed to maintain the physical plant and equipment. 9. Oversees the maintenance logs and submits reports as required concerning maintenance, operations, safety reports and concerns. 10. Provides input in the development of short and long-term capital improvement plans associated with the Ice Arena 11. Supervision of assigned part time staff, specifically Zamboni drivers and custodians, as it pertains to their functions, duties and job responsibilities 12. Directs maintenance activities to ensure all maintenance problems are properly handled and within budget. 13. Consistent and punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts is required. 14. Cleaning and custodial duties. 15. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma/equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience with building mechanicals, operations and repair.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Three to five years of Ice Arena ice operations experience. Veteran's preference points are acknowledged in the City's hiring process.
