Job Description

Befesa's Business Befesa's business is to provide sustainable solutions to the steel and aluminium industries through servicing and recycling hazardous residues generated in the value chains of secondary steel and aluminium producers. Befesa focuses its core efforts on recycling hazardous residues: crude steel dust, salt slags and SPL. Befesa has been a part of the circular economy for more than three decades.

POSITION
Mechanic
A SHIFT/HOURS
12 Hour Rotating Shifts or Straight Day Shift
REPORTS TO
Maintenance Supervisor and/or Production Supervisor
TECHNICAL
Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Troubleshoot equipment to identify causes of operational, safety and environmental issues Performs housekeeping as needed to maintain environmental compliance and safe working conditions Contributes to team effort by executing daily tasks to meet department goals All other tasks that may be assigned, as required, to support the plant

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to talk and hear Must be clean shaven Must be able to pass respirator fit test Visual abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus Ability to frequently stand, walk, reach, and use hands and fingers Ability to occasionally sit, kneel, stoop and climb Ability to lift move and carry up to 50 pounds frequently Ability to move up to 100 pounds occasionally Work environment will occasionally involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moderate vibrations and temperature extremes
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Must have a High School Education or GED (Not required for employees hired prior to October 2015) Must have completed and maintain, by way of annual re-training, current with the facilities 8-hour OSHA training requirements which include but are not limited to: o Walking and Working Surfaces/Fall Protection o Confined Spaces o Personal protective equipment/Lead/Cadmium o Respiratory Protection o HAZCOM (GHS) o Hearing Conservation o Evacuation and Emergency Procedures Must have completed and maintain, by way of annual re-training, current with the facilities 4-hour SWPP and SPCC training requirements • Must have completed and maintain, by way of annual re-training, current with the facilities 4-hour RCRA and Part B training requirements (covers elements required under specific requirements at 40 CFR 264 Subparts C and D, and TDEC Hazardous Waste Management Regulations 0400-12-01-.06(2).
