Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, upgrades, and installs machinery and equipment in a high-volume, continuous-run manufacturing environment. This role focuses on predictive and preventive maintenance, electromechanical troubleshooting, and equipment reliability to support safe and efficient production operations. Responsibilities Perform predictive and preventive maintenance on machinery and facility equipment, including scheduled PMs and lubrication tasks. Troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical components on production and support equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls (AC/DC), pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems. Read and interpret mechanical prints, electrical wiring diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams to diagnose and resolve issues. Upgrade and install machinery and equipment within a high-volume, continuous-run manufacturing environment. Fabricate and modify equipment using welding (arc and gas) and basic metalworking techniques. Install conduit and assist with electrical and control system installations as needed. Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen for irregular sounds to identify causes of malfunction. Dismantle equipment and components to access, remove, and replace defective parts. Examine the form, fit, and texture of parts to detect imperfections and wear. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements and suitability for continued use. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments to restore proper operation. Repair or replace defective parts and install special functional or structural components in equipment. Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to ensure smooth and safe operation. Start and test devices after repair or installation to verify proper performance. Set up and operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to make or repair parts. Initiate purchase orders for replacement parts, tools, and machines as needed to maintain equipment reliability. Work collaboratively in a team environment and support flexible scheduling needs, including additional hours and weekends as required. Essential Skills Minimum of two (2) years of mechanical or electrical experience, or equivalent degrees/certification preferred. Practical application experience in electrical or mechanical troubleshooting and repairs. Demonstrated electromechanical troubleshooting experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and understand mechanical prints, electrical wiring diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical controls (AC/DC), pneumatic equipment, and hydraulic equipment. Ability to perform predictive and preventive maintenance, including lubrication and routine inspections. Skill in using metalworking tools such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders to make and repair parts. Ability to perform welding (arc and gas) for equipment fabrication and repair. Capability to install conduit and assist with electrical installations. Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of equipment issues through observation and testing. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues. Willingness and ability to work additional and flexible hours, including weekends, based on business needs. Willingness and ability to work all shifts depending on company requirements. Ability to successfully pass a Skilled Trades (Non-Technical) online test prior to interview or hire. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a high-volume, continuous-run manufacturing environment. Electromechanical background with exposure to both mechanical and electrical systems. Experience with equipment upgrades and installations in a production setting. Familiarity with initiating purchase orders for parts and machines. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced setting. Corrugated industry experience is not required but manufacturing experience is strongly preferred. Equivalent technical degrees or certifications in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance are preferred. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility with a flexible, fast-paced work environment. You will work around high-volume, continuous-run production equipment and use tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, welding equipment, and standard maintenance tools. The position requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and adapt to changing priorities. Work hours may include additional and flexible time, including weekends and all shifts, depending on business needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Amarillo, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
