The Plant Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment and systems at a ready-mix concrete facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations while supporting production goals and maintaining compliance with safety standards Key Responsibilities Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred. Previous related experience in the construction or materials field. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Knowledge of plant maintenance and welding. Knowledge of pumps, material handling equipment, and related plant systems to troubleshoot and anticipate issues. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical diagrams. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic. Work Requiremente Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment including conveyors, mixers, crushers, screens, and material handling systems. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement timely corrective actions. Conduct routine inspections to identify potential failures and recommend preventative solutions. Perform welding and fabrication as needed to repair or modify equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical diagrams to perform repairs and installations. Maintain and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, and other plant components. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Assist with plant shutdowns, start-ups, and major repairs or upgrades. Keep accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation.

Communicate effectively with plant management and team members regarding equipment status and repair needs. Train and mentor less experienced team members on maintenance procedures and safety practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls. Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hand and arms above their shoulders. Must be able to exert up to 10-20 lbs. constantly to move objects, 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally.
