THIS POSITION IS ASSIGNED TO PARKS OPERATIONS JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician I performs labor intensive tasks while performing routine general and preventative maintenance to grounds, equipment, facilities and infrastructure on a daily basis. This position requires a good understanding of basic facility repairs, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. This position may complete tasks within close proximity to the general public and must be capable of providing a safe work zone. This position is expected to maintain the highest level of customer service while engaging with contractors, the general public and other city departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent with one year of minimum experience.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or higher. First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain within six months.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and practices of parks and recreation facilities maintenance and repair or related services. Knowledge of principles and practices of safe work habits. Skill in operating a variety of tools, equipment, vehicles and trailers. Skill in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions. Ability to work independently or cohesively as part of a team. Ability to understand and follow the City of Conroe/Departmental policies and procedures. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
