Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing company fleet vehicles and construction equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role performs preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on a variety of fleet and heavy equipment while supporting equipment uptime and safety compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - These duties are essential to fulfill the minimum requirements of the position. Additional duties may be assigned. Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on company fleet vehicles, trailers, and construction equipment, including concrete buggies, ride-on and walk-behind trowel machines, skid steers, trucks, and related heavy equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, engine, hydraulic, electrical, and emissions-related issues using diagnostic tools, software, and manufacturer repair procedures, including diesel regeneration processes when necessary. Conduct operational testing and safety inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and manufacturer standards prior to returning assets to service. Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, inspection logs, and service reports through fleet management and maintenance software to support operational visibility and planning. Coordinate with the Purchasing Department, and external vendors to maintain appropriate inventory levels of parts, tools, fluids, and repair supplies necessary to support maintenance operations. Respond in a timely and professional manner to equipment breakdowns and field service requests, including traveling to job sites and coordinating the procurement and transport of parts and supplies as necessary to support repairs and minimize operational downtime. Monitor recurring equipment and mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, fleet performance, and maintenance efficiency. Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused shop and work environment in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures while supporting overall fleet reliability and operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or experience required.
Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required:
Must possess one or more of the following: o High school diploma or GED equivalent required. o Associate degree, technical certification, or completion of a manufacturer-certified training program in automotive, diesel, or heavy truck technology preferred. o Current certifications, or the ability to successfully obtain and maintain equipment-specific training and certifications, including University of Multiquip (UMQ) and Wacker Neuson University programs for applicable concrete and masonry equipment through online and instructor-led training. o Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. o Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance procedures. o Ability to read, interpret, and apply service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical repair documentation. o Proficiency in the use of diagnostic software, scan tools, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). o Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Type and Length of Specific Experience Required:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fleet maintenance, diesel mechanics, and heavy equipment repair. Proven experience servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and small engine equipment. Experience performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and field repairs in a commercial construction environment. Experience working with concrete-related equipment, including power buggies, mixers, pumps, skid steers, and similar machinery required
Physical Requirements and Environment:
Regular use of hands, fingers, and manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, and reaching for prolonged periods. Must be able to lift, move, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a routine basis. Ability to work in a variety of environments including shop, warehouse, and outdoor jobsite conditions, with exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and occasional inclement weather. Requires sufficient strength, flexibility, coordination, and range of motion to safely perform essential job functions. Up to 30% travel required, including out-of-state and overnight trips, as needed for business operations
Pay:
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour
