Job Description

Engineer on Duty (EOD) Role Summary The Engineer on Duty (EOD) is a critical frontline responder responsible for maintaining the seamless operation of Horseshoe Bay Resort. This role requires a versatile technician who can provide professional, high-quality service to both resort guests and internal departments. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver, capable of managing shifting priorities and making logical, decisive technical judgments in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions Guest Room & Public Area Maintenance:
Execute rapid-response repairs including plumbing (unclogging drains/toilets), electrical (switches, outlets, lighting), and mechanical systems (HVAC, hardware, TV programming).
Life Safety & Emergency Response:
Monitor fire alarm and life safety systems. Act as the primary engineering responder during emergencies to protect guests, associates, and property infrastructure.
System Monitoring & Documentation:
Accurately read and interpret meters, gauges, and diagnostic tools. Maintain detailed daily logs of activities and mechanical issues to ensure clear communication across shift changes.
Energy & Utility Stewardship:
Actively monitor utility usage throughout the resort and grounds, identifying and reporting opportunities for energy conservation and cost-saving measures.
Safety & Accident Prevention:
Adhere strictly to Departmental Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards. Proactively identify and correct hazardous conditions to maintain a zero-accident environment.
Asset Management:
Ensure all resort tools and equipment are cleaned, lubricated, and properly maintained. Responsible for the organization and security of the engineering shop and storage areas.
Operational Flexibility:
Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by Engineering Management or Resort Leadership to support the evolving needs of our world-class property.
General Operations:
Maintain a clean, organized workspace and perform additional departmental duties as directed to ensure the resort's aesthetic and functional standards are met.
Qualifications Technical Requirements:
Proficiency in at least three of the following core trades: HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Carpentry, or Kitchen Equipment. Experience with Pneumatic/Electronic systems and controls is highly preferred. Strong finish skills, including painting and general building maintenance.
Compliance & Communication:
Valid Texas Driver's License with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Full professional fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) to comprehend technical manuals and communicate with guests. Professional, neat, and clean appearance in accordance with resort standards.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform physically active work, including walking and ascending/descending stairs throughout the shift. Capable of lifting/moving up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
