ABOUT THE POSITION
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives. Key Deliverables
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency repair.
  • Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
  • Address facility maintenance issues (multi-craft)
  • Perform maintenance of lighting, compressed air, and building electrical systems.
  • Cross-train on equipment to support in-house setup and testing Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and upkeep the office and production facility (100,000 SF).
  • Coordinate production equipment repairs with contractors and the production team.
  • Coordinate calibration activities with suppliers and the Quality Manager.
  • Coordinate purchasing of facility project materials with Sourcing.
  • Assist with the setup and/or relocation of machinery and equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  • Maintain inventory of hand and power tools.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities.
  • Use the CMMS to manage work orders and document maintenance activities.
  • Perform emergency repairs to production equipment to support ongoing operations.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance and repairs during planned machine downtime
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production machines.
  • Follow equipment manuals and work orders to complete maintenance and service tasks.
  • Diagnose issues; repair or replace parts; and test and adjust equipment.
  • Perform plumbing, maintenance, and basic carpentry tasks.
  • Operate hand and power tools, meters, and material-handling equipment safely.
  • Identify faulty operation or defective material and report unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
  • Deliver quality results aligned with the Company's vision and mission.
  • Promote and model Astec's core values. To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1+ years Industrial maintenance experience preferred or 7+ years of general maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with 3-phase electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
  • Understanding of LOTO and isolation of energy sources
  • Experience using CMMS to generate and log work order activity
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
  • Ethical conduct is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability and initiative to achieve results is required.
  • Must work well independently and with others for the purpose of achieving mutual goals.
  • Technical capability and problem-solving skills are critical.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Manufacturing Environment Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
