Description Performs inspections and extensive preventative maintenance as needed and directed; preventative maintenance includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and lubricating equipment parts, changing belts, replace filters, check fluid levels, inspects drives and motors and performs other maintenance actions as listed on checklists. Performs detailed diagnostic tests, routine repairs, troubleshooting, and adjustment of equipment/facilities. Inspects, adjusts, and replaces components and related parts including valves, pistons, and main bearing assemblies. Performs general mechanical overhaul and repair work on motors, control systems, pneumatic systems, resistance welding systems, and hydraulic systems. Performs minor welding and modifies equipment and fabricates parts as needed or as directed. Performs in-depth diagnostic tests, major repairs, troubleshooting, and adjustment of equipment/facilities. Visually inspects hydraulic lines and components to detect leaks, damage, and wear. Reads pressure gauges to detect abnormal oil pressure and smells to detect overheated oil. Disassembles defective hydraulic components and replaces/repairs, and reassembles. Observes readouts on display screens or computers to determine nature of system malfunction. Operates standard testing equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Responds to emergency maintenance requests. Manages and completes assigned daily work orders. Assists with installation of new equipment as requested. Exercises discretion to identify projects that need a higher skill level and informs supervisors. Keeps detailed records of the work performed. Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure the physical conditions of equipment and buildings do not deteriorate. Assists with renovation and remodeling of buildings and/or work stations as requested. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment, tools, and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Obtains correct replacement parts from inventory and/or advises Parts Room Clerk when a part needs to be ordered. Responsible for leaving work area clean after completion of maintenance or repair of equipment. Responsible for keeping track of company tools. Grows technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Responsible for alerting maintenance supervisor of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that may have taken place or that may occur. Maintains a professional courteous manner with all vendors, contractors, customers, and fellow employees. Complies with all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner. Mentors lower level maintenance employees and equipment operators regarding maintenance issues. Assure all safety standards are used when working on equipment. Supervision is not a normal responsibility of this position; however, at times the employee may need to provide direction of the work when assisted by lower level maintenance workers or equipment operators.
