Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs automated equipment such as case erectors, conveyors, and pallet wrappers within a busy distribution center environment. This role focuses on ensuring high equipment uptime through effective troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Responsibilities Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair automated equipment including case erectors, conveyors, and pallet wrappers at the distribution center. Perform preventive maintenance on conveyors and related material handling equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and technical documentation. Conduct conveyor maintenance and conveyor repair, including identifying worn components and replacing parts as needed. Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to help identify and resolve control system issues. Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to guide repair and maintenance activities. Operate forklifts and material handling equipment, including sit-down forklifts, scissor lifts, and turret trucks, as needed to access equipment and complete repairs. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in accordance with site procedures. Collaborate with operations and other maintenance team members to prioritize and complete work orders efficiently. Support a safe work environment by following all site safety rules and equipment lockout/tagout procedures. Essential Skills At least 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, distribution, or similar environment. At least 3 years of conveyor maintenance experience, including inspection, adjustment, and repair. Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician working with automated equipment. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to work from schematics. Mechanical aptitude with experience working on conveyors, pallet wrappers, and related material handling systems. Knowledge of hydraulics and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic components. Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment. Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting at a basic level to support control system diagnostics. Ability to operate forklifts and aerial equipment such as sit-down forklifts, scissor lifts, and turret trucks. Ability to work safely in an active distribution center and follow all safety and equipment operation procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a food and beverage environment is a strong plus. Experience working in a distribution center (DC) is preferred. Comfort working with automated packaging and material handling equipment. Ability to communicate clearly with operations and maintenance team members. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a distribution center that handles food and beverage products. The facility is in the process of installing equipment to become climate controlled, creating a more comfortable and consistent working environment. Work takes place around automated material handling equipment, including conveyors and pallet wrappers, and may require operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and turret trucks. For safety and product integrity, team members use a clear water bottle and a clear lunch bag while onsite, and only a plain wedding band is permitted as jewelry.
