Job Description
Job summary: The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting with operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment as assigned. He/she is also responsible for performing the job in a safe and efficient manner and performing trade jobs, such as carpentry, painting, HVAC, etc. as assigned.
Qualification standards:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.)
- Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Long hours sometimes required
- Ability to work in a typical maintenance atmosphere requiring heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and climbing ladders and stairs.
- Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, push pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Must be able to work unsupervised Duties and Functions
ESSENTIAL
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
- Follow all hotel and departmental procedures and policies
- Report emergencies and unusual situations immediately
ESSENTIAL
- Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
- Assist in maintenance of health code requirements for the pool and spa.
- Act as the emergency contact.
- Attend monthly maintenance meetings and communicate with Corporate Engineer.
- Evaluate and spot check work of staff and contractor's or outside laborers.
- Carry a phone at all times.
- Point out and assist with eliminating safety concerns.
- Demonstrate an attitude of cooperation and helpfulness at all times.
- Preform plumbing repair, laundry equipment repair, HVAC repair, pool/spa repair, minor electrical repair upon request.
MARGINAL
- Complete all appropriate Engineering forms.
- Preform any other duties as requested by Corporate Engineer or Immediate Supervisor.
