Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description This role supports a major food and beverage manufacturing facility that provides end-to-end packaging solutions and partners with leading beverage brands. The maintenance technician will work within either the Processing or Packaging department to install, maintain, and repair production equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations across a variety of advanced beverage manufacturing and packaging lines. Openings are available for both high-skilled technicians and subject matter experts, with opportunities on day, night, and swing shifts. Responsibilities Operate, start up, and shut down production and packaging equipment in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements. Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and troubleshooting tasks to repair and maintain production equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life. Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLCs, software and hardware, controls, and instrumentation. Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, filler machines, robotics, and other production machinery in both processing and packaging areas. In the Processing Department, maintain and repair valves, pumps, tanks, homogenizers, direct steam injection systems, aseptic valves, and related systems for raw product handling. In the Packaging Department, maintain and repair packaging machines and complete lines that handle still juice beverages, broths, flavored water, plant-based, and dairy products. Support and troubleshoot equipment such as Tetra Slim 1L HeliCap, Tetra Edge 1L LightCap 30, Tetra Prisma 250 & 330 mL with DreamCap 26, DIMC A3 Flex, Elopak systems, Elopak 1.89 liter, and A3 Speed liter slim lines. Carry out logistics tasks, including receiving goods, preparing materials for upcoming production orders, and loading bulk product for shipment. Work with cutting-edge technology and innovation in beverage manufacturing, contributing to continuous improvement and high-quality production. Comply with all rules and policies related to health and safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, and company requirements. Maintain strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in all maintenance and production support activities. Adhere to and support the company's Integrated Management Systems, including Production, Quality, Food Safety, and GMP. Use appropriate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete maintenance tasks. Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment status and issues to relevant stakeholders. Essential Skills 3-4 years of high-skilled maintenance experience for regular maintenance technician roles. 5-7 years of high-skilled maintenance experience for expert or subject matter expert technician roles. Hands-on experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, filler machines, and robotics. Experience with PLC troubleshooting, including both software and hardware aspects. Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills in a production or manufacturing environment. Experience in beverage manufacturing maintenance or similar high-speed production environments. Ability to troubleshoot and repair valves, pumps, tanks, homogenizers, direct steam injection systems, aseptic valves, and related processing equipment. Experience with industrial electrical systems up to 480 VAC. Knowledge of controls and instrumentation, including PLC control systems. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical components such as VFDs, motor starters, and temperature sensors. Proficiency in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of complex production equipment. Ability to understand and safely use various hand tools and power tools to complete maintenance tasks. Compliance mindset with GMP, food safety, and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education is required. Trade or vocational school education in a related field is preferred. Approximately 5 years of experience in a maintenance role in various environments is preferred for higher-level roles. Experience working in a food and beverage manufacturing facility is preferred. Experience with blending systems, pumps, valves, and think tops is preferred. Preferred experience with industrial electrical systems up to 480 VAC, including controls and PLCs. Experience with homogenizers, sterilizers, and hydraulics is preferred. Experience with aseptic processing, tank maintenance, and boiler maintenance is beneficial. Familiarity with beverage packaging equipment, especially filler and Tetra Pak-style systems, is a strong plus. Exposure to BRC, HACCP, environmental, and sustainability standards is advantageous. Ability to work effectively in either processing or packaging maintenance departments. Willingness to work rotating schedules, including day, night, or swing shifts as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a large-scale food and beverage manufacturing facility that operates advanced processing and packaging lines. The environment includes both Processing and Packaging departments, working with raw product systems such as valves, pumps, tanks, homogenizers, direct steam injection systems, and aseptic valves, as well as high-speed packaging equipment including Tetra Slim 1L HeliCap, Tetra Edge 1L LightCap 30, Tetra Prisma 250 & 330 mL with DreamCap 26, DIMC A3 Flex, Elopak systems, Elopak 1.89 liter, and A3 Speed liter slim lines. Maintenance technicians work with industrial electrical systems up to 480 VAC, PLCs, controls and instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, and various mechanical components. Shifts include day (7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.), night (7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.) on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, and swing shift (3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) for certain SME technician roles. The facility follows strict GMP, food safety, health, safety, and environmental standards, requiring consistent adherence to procedures and safe work practices in a production-floor setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ogden, UT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
