Job Description

Job Summary M1 Auto Repair is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Shop Assistant to join our growing team in West Jordan, UT. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work and are looking to build a long-term career in the automotive repair industry. The right candidate will bring a strong work ethic, basic mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities include assisting Mechanics with vehicle repairs and maintenance, maintaining a clean and organized shop environment, performing basic building and facility upkeep, managing tools and equipment, and supporting day-to-day shop operations. Responsibilities Assist technicians with vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Perform basic automotive tasks under supervision, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and battery replacements. Move vehicles in and out of service bays and parking areas as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. Organize tools, equipment, parts, and supplies as needed Dispose of waste materials and recyclables in accordance with shop procedures and environmental regulations as needed Receive, stock, and inventory parts, fluids, and shop supplies as needed Pick up parts from local suppliers as needed. Assist with maintaining shop equipment, lifts, compressors, and other facility systems. Perform basic building maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, painting, landscaping, snow removal, and grounds upkeep. Support other shop operations and projects as assigned. Requirements Basic hand tool knowledge is required Previous automotive, maintenance, construction, landscaping, or shop experience is a plus but not required. Valid driver's license Ability to safely operate customer vehicles, including manual transmissions preferred. Mechanical aptitude and interest in automotive repair and maintenance. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Comfortable performing both automotive and facility maintenance tasks as needed Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ pounds and perform physical labor throughout the workday, including standing, bending, kneeling.
Pay:
$12.00 - $15.00 per hour
