Job Description

Matern Staffing is hiring a Property Maintenance Technician at a nonprofit organization in downtown Fredericksburg, Va. The Property Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining safe, functional, and well-kept facilities that support the mission of a nonprofit organization serving the community. This hands-on role focuses on carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, along with general building maintenance across residential and administrative properties. The work directly ensures staff and residents have safe, reliable, and well-maintained spaces to live and work. This is a direct hire role.
Salary:
$27/hr
Schedule:
Mon-Friday, 8am-5pm with occasional weekends or holidays
What You'll Do:
Complete skilled repairs and maintenance with a focus on carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical systems (doors, drywall, windows, locks, toilets, fixtures, outlets, switches, and lighting) Complete general building maintenance including painting, drywall repair, and fixture installation Build, assemble, and install shelving, cabinets, furniture, and other facility structures Maintain interior and exterior spaces including cleaning, trash removal, carpet care, and furniture/equipment moves Perform grounds maintenance such as mowing, landscaping, seasonal cleanup, and snow/ice removal Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles
What You'll Need:
High school diploma or GED preferred, with extensive hands-on experience in building trades or facility maintenance Strong working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical repair Experience with general maintenance tasks such as painting, drywall, and landscaping Ability to safely perform physical labor including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in varying conditions Ability to use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment Valid driver's license required About our
