Job Description
This is a night shift position. Hours are Monday through Thursday 5:00 pm to 5:30 am with a $3.00 shift premium added to base pay. The Maintenance Technician supports Cooper Steel of Virginia's goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. As a member of the Cooper Steel team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork, job knowledge and leadership. The Maintenance Technician's main responsibility is to maintain efficient Mechanical and Electrical systems throughout the facility. This position is also responsible for performing preventative maintenance and inspections.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production Complete repairs for various Mechanical and Electrical systems (60% of the Job) Reading & Troubleshooting equipment from Schematic and Pneumatic process Knowledge in what the difference is between 120/240/480 Voltage. Complete a wide range of plant and machine inspections to ensure that PMs are completed and filled out Maintains records of work performed, updates document as required manually and computer-based knowledge Interacts and coordinates with outside contractors and vendors Understanding of LOTO Complete all work orders in a timely manner Other duties as assigned No supervisory responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School Diploma or equivalent 3-5 years prior experience in a similar role is preferredOTHER SKILLS
Strong functional and technical skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; strong attention to detail; ability to work effectively with others. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Use of hands for gripping and grasping required. Specific vision abilities are required. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position performs work mostly in the Shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions.These include the following conditions:
noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions, and heights.
