Maintenance Technician

Riverbend Nursery is looking for a Maintenance Technician to take part in the upkeep of equipment, property, and vehicles required to keep our nursery running smoothly. SUMMARY The Maintenance Technician is responsible for trouble shooting, repairing and performing preventative maintenance (PM's) on all types of equipment at the nursery based on work orders that come into the work request system and assigned by the manager and or supervisor. This position also will require taking leadership responsibility for various projects where direction and oversite is needed as directed by the maintenance manager and working with the manager and maintenance supervisor to accomplish these tasks. This person also needs to be an independent worker as well as a team member assisting others when needed. Must also be innovative coming up with new ideas for equipment and processes to help become more productive and efficient.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Irrigation Trouble shoot, and perform repairs on irrigation systems, including pumps, water valves and water lines. Maintain and repair water treatment systems using chlorine and sulfuric acid. Structure and Facilities Maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in greenhouse. Maintain drive cables and motors on mechanical structures. Troubleshoot and repair problems with all greenhouse systems. Machinery Adjust and repair conveyor belts Perform adjustment to settings on automated machinery Maintain electrical, pneumatic and hydraulics on automated equipment Maintain and perform repairs on farm equipment such as tractors, forklifts, and other farm vehicles as needed. Organization Complete necessary paper work and/or data entry to complete assigned tasks and report necessary information Maintain and return assigned tools to their designated location Take care to keep the shop clean and organized to facilitate efficiency Other Use electrical tester to check and troubleshoot equipment Be available on 24 hour call on assigned weekends Other duties as assigned including general nursery work as needed Tools and Equipment Used Various tools used for mechanical repair such as screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchet and socket tools, pry bars, sledge hammers etc. Welding and cut torches Pneumatic tools PLC systems Hydraulics Conveyor systems Electrical equipment Pneumatic equipment Computer Radio Safety equipment Various vehicles including trucks, tractors, tractor trailers, and forklifts

REQUIREMENTS

Ability to read and understand written directions in English Ability to understand verbal instructions Ability to operate equipment and vehicles used at the nursery Knowledge of methods for repairing mechanical equipment Knowledge of tools used in repair and maintenance Background in maintenance of hydraulic equipment Background in maintenance of pneumatic equipment Background in maintenance of electrical equipment and electronic equipment or related certification Valid driver's license and clean DMV record

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS A

high School diploma or GED, or equivalent experience, is required.
