We are seeking skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as a Street Maintenance Technician. As a Street maintenance Technician, you will have a crucial role in maintaining the safety and integrity or our city's roadways. In this role, you will be performing a variety of tasks including repairing potholes, asphalt patching, maintaining signage, vegetation maintenance, traffic markings, street cleaning, guardrail repair, snow and ice response and be on rotational standby. This is a hands-on position and requires a combination of technical expertise, physical activity, and a commitment to quality workmanship. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect, maintain, and repair of asphalt, street signs, pavement markings, and street furniture. Clear and maintain vegetation in the right of way using specialty mowers (Boom-arm flail mower and articulating slope mower) and handheld equipment. Respond to weather-related events, including snow and ice, wind, and flooding events.Operate specialized equipment:
street sweeper, bucket lift truck, button truck, dump truck, snowplow, sander, asphalt patching truck, paint-sprayer, thermoplastic machine etc. to repair, maintain, and install components of the streets system. Safe operation of hand and power tools, as well as vehicles and heavy equipment. Participate in the after- hours standby program on a rotational basis, responding to emergency call outs and customer requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Any combination equivalent to high school diploma or equivalency and one (1) year construction or trades experience. Licenses and Certificates Valid Washington State Driver's License required Additional licenses and certificates that may be required depending on the area in which incumbent is assigned: CDL, Class A or B; may need air brakes and/or tanker endorsement Washington State Department of Transportation Flagging Certification First Aid/CPR Signs and Markings Level I certification Pesticide Operators License Other This class description describes the general nature of the work performed, representative duties as well as the typical qualifications needed for acceptable performance.
