In this hands-on role, you will lead preventative maintenance programs, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems, and serve as the frontline expert ensuring our equipment, tools, and vehicles are safe, reliable, and production ready. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform scheduled and emergency preventative maintenance and repairs on all shop and field equipment, including welding machines, fabrication machinery, and machine shop tools. Inspect, test, and certify all tools and equipment prior to field deployment, ensuring each item meets safety and performance standards. Coordinate and oversee outside contractors performing repairs, ensuring work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to plant procedures. Operate forklifts and a wide range of shop tools and equipment safely and efficiently in support of maintenance and logistics tasks. Strictly follow and enforce all plant procedures, with particular emphasis on lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols and equipment shutdown procedures. Identify and promptly report safety hazards, violations, and equipment conditions that could impact personnel or production, driving a proactive safety culture. Maintain organized, accurate inventory records for all field tools and equipment, tracking location, condition, and maintenance history. Knowledge & Skills Required Technical Hands-on mechanical experience with industrial fabrication machinery, including clutch systems, welding equipment, and machine shop tools. Working knowledge of electrical systems at both 110V and 480V; ability to safely troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical components. Solid understanding of welding and steel fabrication processes relevant to equipment maintenance in a production environment. Proficient in reading and interpreting instrumentation, gauges, and precision measuring devices. Current forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Professional Clear and effective communicator — able to document maintenance activities, coordinate with supervisors and contractors, and escalate issues accurately. Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced shop environment; able to prioritize competing maintenance needs without compromising safety or quality. Collaborative team player with a dependable work ethic and commitment to supporting production uptime and safety goals. Working Conditions Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 60-90 lbs to a height of 3 feet, and perform prolonged standing, bending, and reaching in an active shop environment. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) — including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and gloves — at all times while on the shop floor. Work is performed in a busy steel fabrication shop environment, with regular exposure to loud noise, heat, cold, fumes, and heavy equipment. Outdoor field work may be required on occasion.
