What It's Like to Be a Maintenance Technician In this role, your days will be hands on and rewarding. You'll complete a variety of maintenance tasks, from HVAC and plumbing repairs to unit turns and preventative upkeep, while interacting with residents and team members to ensure their needs are met quickly and professionally. You'll play a key role in maintaining a safe, well-kept community where residents feel comfortable and at home. DutiesResponsibilities Perform repairs and maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and related building systems Complete work orders and turnovers efficiently to prepare apartments for new residents Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized or large-scale repairs Conduct routine and preventative maintenance, including inspections of common areas, building systems, and grounds Support cleanliness and safety standards, including trash/recycling management and hazard identification Assist with maintaining budgets related to repairs, maintenance, and capital improvements Respond promptly to maintenance concerns, emergencies, or safety issues Support nearby properties, as needed Participate in an on-call rotation to address urgent maintenance needs Uphold and demonstrate Oakbrook's core values in all interactions Knowledge, SkillsAbilities Experience in residential or property maintenance preferred Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Basic Requirements High school diploma or GED Trade or vocational training preferred Personal hand tools required Valid driver's license About Oakbrook Corporation Oakbrook has proudly served the Midwest since 1987.
