Maintenance Technician (3rd Shift) Job Description This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial production equipment in a fast-paced corrugated manufacturing environment. The position is on 3rd shift and requires a well-rounded technician with both mechanical and electrical skills, a strong troubleshooting mindset, and a willingness to learn and grow on unique machinery. Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of production equipment, including corrugators, starch mixers, balers, shipping conveyors, dust collectors, and related hydraulic and pneumatic components. Perform mechanical and electrical diagnostics to identify issues and implement effective repairs in a timely manner. Conduct preventive maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and repair work. Assist with basic PLC troubleshooting and support electrical control systems as needed. Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential problems and recommend corrective actions. Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively while performing maintenance tasks. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately and in a timely manner. Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work and ensure equipment reliability. Participate in training on unique machines and apply new knowledge to improve equipment performance. Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and facility guidelines while working on equipment. Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting and implementing maintenance-related improvements. Essential Skills Minimum of 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of maintenance degree and 2-7 years of maintenance experience. Well-rounded mechanical and electrical maintenance skills in an industrial environment. Demonstrated troubleshooting ability for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial production equipment. Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation. Basic PLC troubleshooting exposure and familiarity with industrial control systems. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in an industrial setting. Proficiency with maintenance tools and equipment and the ability to safely use hand and power tools. Ownership of personal tools required for daily maintenance tasks. Ability to work independently on 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to unique machinery and new technologies. Additional Skills & Qualifications A.S. or technical degree in maintenance or a related field is highly desirable. 1-3 years of industry experience considered for entry-level candidates with an A.S. degree or diploma. Prior experience in corrugated manufacturing or similar industrial environments is a plus. Exposure to PLCs and electrical systems beyond basic troubleshooting is beneficial. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to established procedures. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a corrugated manufacturing facility characterized by a fast-paced production environment. The position operates on 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.), with significant overtime opportunities. Initial training takes place on 1st shift, with the training duration typically ranging from one to several weeks, depending on individual progress and operational needs. Technicians work around corrugators, starch mixers, balers, shipping conveyors, dust collection systems, and various hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, using standard industrial maintenance tools and diagnostic instruments. The facility follows standard industrial safety practices, and employees are expected to wear appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a manufacturing setting.
