POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title:
Maintenance Engineer (Full Time, Non-Exempt) ROLE Responsible for helping to achieve ongoing guest satisfaction and team goals. Overall responsibility for the preventative maintenance of the hotel rooms, public space and all related equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform, administer, document preventative maintenance programs. Must possess excellent time management skills and basic computer skills. Maintain and manage a work order system for the hotel as well as complete work orders on a timely basis. Perform all maintenance and preventative maintenance functions within the hotel in an effort to meet and exceed established standards and maintain standards to minimize the services of an outside contractor. Work directly with the hotel's General Manager to identify and accomplish all technical and/or skill-related projects within the hotel including but not limited to the following:
  • Perform electrical, plumbing and carpentry projects.
  • Assist in HVAC unit repair projects.
  • Guest room repair issues (caulking, tile repair, painting, plumbing, etc.).
  • Determine needs for contract repair/services.
  • Perform, administer, and document preventative maintenance.
  • With GM/AGM, implement and manage hotel key control.
  • Perform, schedule, administer and document suite care rotation. Maintain proper records utilizing the property computer system.
  • Setup and keep updated all maintenance logs.
Remains on call for emergency situations, and maintains a cellular phone for such calls after hours. Know and understand guest needs and expectations. Assist team with training, supplies and support in order to consistently provide quality service. Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company, including but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook. Proper administration of key control. The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and associates may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work. Associates are required to comply with department uniform and appearance standards. Associates are expected to carry out all reasonable requests by Managers/Supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience Required:
3-5 years of related experience.
Skills/Abilities:
Proven track record of achieving high levels of productivity and efficiency. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure, with strong organizational time management skills and problem-solving skills. Requires reliable transportation for travel between properties, with mileage paid for travel.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Talking:
Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly
Average Hearing:
Ability to hear average conversations at a standard level in an office environment.
Repetitive Motion:
The employee is regularly required to move about the hotel overseeing the various departments throughout the day. May also use a variety of tools and equipment.
Finger Dexterity:
The employee is regularly required to use hands to type and operate equipment and machinery.
Average VisION:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Physical Strength:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, as well as stand, sit, bend, kneel, squat, and walk for long periods of time. Long hours sometimes required, including nights and weekends.
