Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is charged with the responsibility of safely, efficiently, and expertly evaluating machine issues and completing machine repair and prevention assignments in a professional, complete, and tidy manner to support production needs. The goal of this position is to meet the expectation that all facilities and equipment will work to its original purpose in manufacturers' specification and operate optimally in terms of productive capacities. Key Responsibilities and Purpose The primary responsibility of the Facilities Maintenance Technician is to safely perform machine maintenance efficiently by ensuring requisite supplies are present before a task begins, following standard operating procedures, working with OEM technical support, and drawing schematics or blue prints to replace or repair broken parts in order to return the equipment to its original capability. Other Responsibilities Dismantling, cutting, threading, straightening, reshaping, sharpening, replacing, attaching, and re-assembling equipment Responding, diagnosing, and repairing constrained and essential equipment as soon as a disruption or malfunction is detected and reported; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service Tracking machine uptime metrics and reporting performance to the Plant Manager Communicating reactive or preventive maintenance performed, supplies used, and time associated with the completed work using a computerized system and standard operating procedures Communicating and addressing safety issues immediately ,as discovered, by collaborating with Plant Manager, Scheduler, supervisors, engineers, and operators Performing minor plumbing, carpentry, assembly, cleaning, and facility repair assignments (i.e. floor repair, roof repair, snow removal, beautification of campus as trained and assigned) Assisting in equipment implementation and installation Maintaining an organized and labeled spare parts inventory area Exhibiting exemplary safety habits in all work assignments ( i.e. proper PPE) Working with computerized infrastructure equipment to monitor compressor, HVAC, lighting, and environmental controls Acquiring and maintaining operational knowledge of all Profiling and Bending Equipment Researching and maintaining the knowledge base required to repair and maintain the production equipment Analyzing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics to resolve issues that prevent equipment from operating at optimum conditions. Perform lock out tag out procedure to ensure safety of all employees Developing the preventative maintenance schedules for new equipment Collaborating with the Plant Manager, Engineering and Corporate Personnel to optimize machine maintenance schedules in order to continuously improve machine up time and reduce unnecessary wear on the equipment Developing and maintaining a library of technical publications related to production equipment maintenance and optimization Participating in the corrective action process as it relates to making improvements to machinery and production activities Providing responsive, expert support to Supervisors, machine operators, and other GSM production team members to assure the highest levels of safety in machine operation, superb product quality, labor and equipment efficiencies are maximized and jobs run at the lowest cost possible to GSM Supporting the Engineer team in ensuring that each machine control contains specific, optimal technical tables for each and every type of raw material the machine is expected to process Collaborating with the Plant Manager and Engineering to ensure machine installation, training, and start-up dates are met Collaborating with Engineering and Corporate Personnel to ensure machine maintenance processes are standardized and repeatable Educating and supporting Production Team members to improve their understanding of all bending machinery and equipment, its safe operation and daily maintenance to ensure the longevity and optimal functioning of both the operators and the machinery Providing support to all relevant personnel in other GSM facilities for all responsibilities related to this position as needed. Education High School Diploma or GED required Mathematical knowledge preferred Maintenance certification preferred Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing environment What We Do General Stamping & Metalworks is a leading supplier of stampings and assemblies to the North American solar power industry, which is forecasting another decade of double-digit growth.
