Under general supervision, requires a valid West Virginia driver's license, performs a variety of work in the general maintenance, repair of buildings, facilities, equipment and vehicles. Performs other related duties as assigned.JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate preferred, but not requiredLicensure/Certification:
None requiredExperience:
Six months of experience in general maintenance preferred.Zero Tolerance:
Must successfully pass background and drug test. •All applicants must attach at resume' to be considered for this position.• Follow both oral and written instructions Interact effectively with residents, guests, supervisors and peers Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly, and/or emotionally upset Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment Follow safety regulations, reporting injuries or unsafe conditions and work practices to appropriate administrator Follow acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code Possess an excellent understanding of sanitation and cleanliness Regular, punctual and dependable attendance Provide assistance and work directly with staff, residents, family of residents, visitors, government agencies and the general publicDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at various facilities/sites including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, glazier, masonry, and painting tasks; repairs and treats structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets; performs minor troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, desks, closets; repairs door hinges; cleans plugged key slots; changes filters on heating, ventilating and air conditioning units; services appliances , kitchen, and emergency equipment; hooks up appliances; repair and patch drywall, reports mechanical malfunctions to appropriate party for action; Moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various facilities/sites; Exercises discretion in identifying projects requiring the services of a higher skilled crafts person Willing to work overtime; and be on call; Team player. Ability to work independent and/or with minimal supervision Annotates and updates work logs for specific site requirements as requested Activates and deactivates building alarms and responds to alarm calls during and after regular work hours Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services to them. Interact with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment. Fully understand all aspects of residents' rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Responsible for promptly reporting to the charge nurse or administrative staff incidents or evidence of resident abuse or violation of residents' rights Assist in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment; report environmental deficiencies to maintenance such as lighting or equipment problems Shovel snow on sidewalks and parking lot, as needed Clean vehicles, as needed Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area or to requests from residents, visitors, other personnel, etc. within given time frames and within established policy Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assignedPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Self-paced requires the ability to work quickly and often-times in a demand, fast-paced work area Requires frequent to continuous physical effort; standing, grasping, balancing, carrying, bending, lifting, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending during eight (8) hour shift Frequent reaching above the head Ability to lift 70 lbs.WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work area is generally well lit and ventilated Work location is both independent and health care areas of Woodlands Retirement Community including individual apartments, cottages, offices, hallways, and other surrounding areas. May be required to work additional hours, weekends or holidays as dictated by the workload and staffingBENEFITS
