Job Description

About Us At Tru by Hilton Princeton, we're launching a new-build property with a focus on quality, consistency, and elite operational standards. We're looking for a Chief Engineer who will take full ownership of the building and ensure everything runs exactly as it should—from day one. Position Summary The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and functionality of the hotel. This role leads all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the property is well-maintained, guest-ready, and compliant with brand standards. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of hotel maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs Lead and manage the engineering/maintenance team (if applicable) Ensure the building, guest rooms, and public areas are in excellent condition Maintain all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules Respond to and resolve maintenance requests in a timely manner Manage vendor relationships and coordinate contracted services Maintain compliance with safety regulations, fire codes, and brand standards Track maintenance expenses and operate within budget guidelines Assist with property improvement plans (PIPs) and capital projects as needed Qualifications Previous hotel maintenance or Chief Engineer experience preferred Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently Leadership experience and ability to manage a team Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed On-call availability for emergencies Reliable transportation and strong attendance What We're Looking For Someone who takes full ownership of the property—no shortcuts A problem-solver who can diagnose and fix issues quickly A leader who holds themselves and others accountable Detail-oriented with a preventative mindset (not just reactive) Someone who understands that maintenance impacts guest experience directly Why Join Us Competitive salary Opportunity to lead engineering for a brand-new hotel Growth opportunities within our hotel portfolio of over 50 properties Be part of building something from the ground up Apply Today If you're experienced, hands-on, and ready to take ownership of a brand-new property—we want you on our team.
