Job Description

Network Cabling Technician We are seeking an experienced Network Cabling Technician to support commercial low-voltage installation projects, including CAT6 network cabling and access control system wiring. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in clean, organized work, understands the importance of code compliance, and can complete professional installations with accuracy and attention to detail. Responsibilities The Network Cabling Technician will be responsible for: Running CAT6 cabling in a commercial building environment Installing and organizing low-voltage wiring for access control systems Completing CAT6 terminations, including jacks, patch panels, and related connection points Testing and verifying cable connections for proper performance Labeling all cables clearly and accurately Maintaining neat cable pathways, racks, panels, and work areas Following project plans, wiring diagrams, and instructions from supervisors or project leads Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with applicable building, electrical, and low-voltage code requirements Identifying and reporting installation issues, damaged cable, unsafe conditions, or other concerns Working professionally around active commercial spaces, tenants, customers, and other trades Requirements Qualified candidates should have: Prior experience running CAT6 cable in commercial buildings Experience with CAT6 terminations Familiarity with low-voltage wiring standards and best practices Ability to read basic wiring layouts, floor plans, or installation instructions Strong attention to detail, especially with cable labeling, organization, and routing Ability to work neatly and maintain a professional jobsite Understanding of applicable code requirements for low-voltage commercial installations Ability to use standard cabling tools, testers, ladders, and related equipment Reliable transportation and a strong work ethic Ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, work above ceilings, and perform physical installation work as needed Preferred Qualifications Experience with access control system wiring Experience with commercial remodels or active jobsite environments Experience dressing network racks, patch panels, and cable management systems Knowledge of industry standards such as TIA/EIA cabling practices Low-voltage certification or related trade experience Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes ownership of their work. We are looking for someone who does not just "pull cable," but understands that clean routing, proper labeling, reliable terminations, and code-compliant installation are critical to a successful commercial project.
