Description:
This role functions as a field resource for a variety of IT, Low Voltage, & AV projects. Field Technician will install computer systems, network equipment, low voltage cabling, & AV systems aiming for the highest quality and functionality under the supervision of a Project Engineer. A successful Field Technician must have knowledge of computer software, hardware, a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great installation and troubleshooting capabilities and attention to detail. Experience in low-voltage, security, access-control, Audio- Video, and basic networking.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Install and configure network equipment, Layer 1 to Layer 4. Install and setup computers, peripherals, & monitor mounts. Communicate professionally with clients on-site to coordinate access, validate requirements, and provide status updates during project execution. Follow quality standards to deploy IT equipment and cabling Stay up to date on industry best practices, emerging technologies, procedures, and relevant certifications. Help during the execution of projects following company standards Prepare project documentation, change evidence, network topology map. Follow change control procedures Terminate and test cabling to ensure proper connectivity and performance. Document and manage time effectively Conduct site surveys to assess cabling and equipment needs for IT and AV installations. Assist in development and maintenance of project documentation, including as-built drawings. Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand installation requirements and timelines. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to IT, low voltage, AV systems. Assist with supporting processes to onboard/offboard clients. SAFETY Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on task and enviroment Follow ladder safety, life safety (EWP, scissor lift, cherry picker), and fall-prevention procedures Maintain situational awareness on active construction sites and coordinate work with general contractors and other trades Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents to their Project Engineer or management Stop work if conditions are deemed unsafe until guidance is provided Consistently follows centrexIT safety and driving protocols and maintains a zero-incident record.QUALITY CONTROL
Perform pre- and post-install quality checks using centrexIT project checklists. Escalate scope deviations, site risks, or design conflicts to the Project Engineer immediately.Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Windows Server deployment, hypervisors (VMWARE and Hyper-V), basic routing (Cisco protocols preferred), firewall standard configuration and installation, conceptual understanding of VLAN and switching setup, firmware upgrades, domain controller management, DHCP and DNS services, Domain, and File services. Knowledge of IT infrastructure hardware and networking protocols. Proficient in low voltage cabling techniques, termination, & testing Ability to read, interpret, & markup technical drawings and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to low voltage installations. Familiarity with AV technologies, including audio systems, displays, & projectors Understand basic ITIL concepts Relevant safety and technical certificationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Capability to lift and carry heavy equipment. Comfortable working in various environments, including construction sites and client premises. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet project deadlines. Capability to safely carry, setup, & climb ladders. This role is based out of our Poway location and requires frequent travel to/from client sites.STANDARDS FOR SUCCESS
