This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of working independently or as part of a project team. The right candidate should have real field experience with structured cabling and low voltage systems, understand proper installation practices, and take pride in delivering high-quality work. Responsibilities The Low Voltage Cabling Technician will be responsible for installing, terminating, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting low voltage cabling and related systems.
Typical work includes:
Pulling, routing, dressing, and securing low voltage cable Installing CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, fiber, coax, and related cabling as required Terminating and testing data jacks, patch panels, keystones, and network cabling Installing cable trays, J-hooks, conduit, raceway, sleeves, and pathways where needed Reading plans, drawings, floor plans, and basic wiring diagrams Performing clean cable management in racks, closets, cabinets, and equipment rooms Supporting installations for CCTV, access control, intrusion, networking, intercom, audio/video, and other low voltage systems Troubleshooting cabling issues, signal problems, device connectivity, and installation defects Maintaining accurate labels, documentation, test results, and as-built information Following safety procedures, jobsite rules, and company installation standards Traveling to job sites as required Required Qualifications Prior experience as a low voltage, structured cabling, network cabling, or security systems technician Strong understanding of proper cabling methods, terminations, labeling, testing, and cable management Ability to use common tools, testers, drills, ladders, lifts, and installation equipment Ability to work cleanly and professionally in active commercial environments Ability to troubleshoot problems without constant supervision Ability to follow instructions, read basic plans, and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members Must be reliable, punctual, and professional with customers and coworkers Must be willing to travel as needed Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications Experience with CCTV, access control, intrusion, fire alarm, intercom, or AV systems Experience working in MDF/IDF rooms, data closets, racks, and network environments Experience with Fluke or similar cable certification/testing equipment OSHA, lift, manufacturer, or industry certifications are a plus Ability to lead small crews or assist in project coordination is a plus Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry tools, ladders, cable boxes, and equipment Ability to work on ladders, lifts, ceilings, attics, equipment rooms, and active construction sites Ability to bend, kneel, climb, pull cable, and work with hand and power tools Ability to work indoors and outdoors depending on project conditions Compensation and Benefits We offer competitive compensation based on experience, skill level, and reliability.
