As part of our continued growth under the One Norlee platform, we are seeking a Telecommunications Helper to join our Low Voltage Division . This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position supporting projects in Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, Florida . Job Summary:
The Telecommunications Helper assists technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems and infrastructure. This entry-level role supports projects involving voice, data, fiber optic, and low-voltage cabling systems in commercial, industrial, and residential environments. The helper is responsible for preparing materials, maintaining tools, and ensuring job sites remain safe and organized while learning the trade from experienced technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist technicians with the installation of telecommunications systems including voice, data, fiber optic, and low-voltage cabling. Pull, route, label, and secure network and communication cables according to project specifications. Support the installation of equipment such as patch panels, network racks, cable trays, and telecommunications hardware. Prepare and organize tools, materials, and equipment needed for job tasks. Maintain clean and safe job sites in compliance with company safety policies. Assist with testing and troubleshooting telecommunications systems under technician supervision. Follow blueprints, diagrams, and technical instructions to support installation work. Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites as required. Learn proper installation techniques, safety procedures, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Basic understanding of hand and power tools. Interest in telecommunications, low-voltage systems, or electrical work. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and in confined spaces. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Preferred Skills (Not Required): Previous construction, electrical, or low-voltage experience. Familiarity with cable installation or network systems. OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain.
Career Path:
This role provides hands-on training and the opportunity to advance into Telecommunications Technician or Low Voltage Technician positions with experience and demonstrated skill.
