Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Low Voltage Technician/Apprentice and embark on an exciting career in the field of telecommunications and electronic systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop hands-on skills in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems across various environments. Whether you're just starting out or seeking to expand your technical expertise, this paid apprenticeship provides comprehensive training and real-world experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented setting. Be part of a team that values safety, precision, and customer satisfaction as you contribute to the installation and servicing of vital communication infrastructure. Duties Assist with the installation, testing, and maintenance of low voltage systems including CCTV, fiber optics, Ethernet networks, VoIP telephony, and data cabling. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support system setup and troubleshooting. Use hand tools and power tools safely to install cabling (Cat5, Cat6), equipment racks, switches, routers (Cisco, Juniper), and telecommunication devices such as Avaya and NEC systems. Perform fiber splicing and cable management tasks to ensure optimal network performance. Conduct field service work by troubleshooting issues on-site with customer equipment and network infrastructure. Support network installation projects by running cables, connecting hardware, and verifying proper operation using tools like ohmmeters and network testers. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including test results, system configurations, and service reports to ensure compliance with industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code). Experience Prior experience as a service technician or in a related IT or electrical role is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated learners. Familiarity with computer hardware, networking concepts (LAN/WAN), Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), and telecommunication systems is advantageous. Knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals is beneficial for understanding system layouts. Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, equipment repair, or data center environments will set candidates apart. Strong customer service skills are essential for effectively communicating with clients during installations or troubleshooting visits. Ability to operate hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, drills, and power tools safely is necessary.
