Job Description

Job Overview RM DataTelecom is seeking energetic and detail-oriented Infrastructure Cabling & Low-Voltage Technicians to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex low-voltage systems across various facilities. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of network infrastructure, telecommunication systems, and security solutions. Duties Install, terminate, and test structured cabling including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and other low-voltage wiring in commercial environments. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installations and repairs. Perform fiber splicing and termination to ensure high-quality data transmission across networks. Set up and troubleshoot network equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, switches, and VoIP telephony systems like Avaya. Conduct routine maintenance, equipment repair, and troubleshooting of telecommunication infrastructure using hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other testing devices. Assist with network installation projects in data centers or enterprise environments while adhering to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and safety protocols. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, issues, and solutions during field service visits. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or field technician specializing in low-voltage cabling or networking systems. Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet cabling, schematics interpretation, and network hardware setup. Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, cable management (Cat5/Cat6), and telecommunication systems such as VoIP and telephony setups like Avaya. Familiarity with electrical safety standards including NEC regulations; ability to work safely with power tools and electrical equipment. Ability to read technical schematics accurately and troubleshoot issues efficiently using tools like ohmmeters. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments. Relevant certifications or training in fiber optics, structured cabling, Cisco routing/switching, or telecommunication systems are highly desirable.
