Full-Time Target Salary Range•: $55,000 - $75,000 This represents the potential salary range for this position depending on education level, years of experience and/or certifications in addition to other position specific requirements which may impact salary Position Overview The Cable Technician will install, terminate, patch, and splice fiber optic cables and copper CAT5/6 Ethernet cables. This role requires the ability to work in an active working environment with little or no disruption to customers. The Cable Technician will work in a classified secured environment and must be able to obtain up to a Top Secret/SCI clearance. Key Responsibilities Cable Installation and Infrastructure Support Install cabling infrastructure under floors or in ceilings. Patch network cables in Telecommunications Rooms on multiple levels of classifications and networks. Ensure cables are properly labeled and identified. Cable Testing and Troubleshooting Troubleshoot issues with Link Runner AT2000 cable testers. Complete work orders using the Remedy online system. Qualifications Experience 5+ years of relevant experience. Proven work experience as a Cable Technician or similar role. Experience installing, terminating, patching, and splicing fiber optic cables and copper CAT5/6 Ethernet cables. Skills Ability to terminate fiber optic cables of various types, including single-mode and multi-mode OM3. Knowledge of fiber optic color code. Knowledge of fiber optic connectors, including LC, SC, MTRJ, ST, and related connector types. Ability to use an RJ45 crimper and punch-down tool for terminating copper. Knowledge of T568B color code. Ability to work in an active working environment with little or no disruption to customers. Clearance Active Top Secret DoD clearance, with willingness and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance. Other Requirements U.S. citizenship. Must have a valid passport with expiration greater than 6 months. Must be willing to travel CONUS and OCCONUS up to 10% each year. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Must be able to work under floors and on ladders on a daily basis. Preferred Qualifications BICSI certifications are preferred.
