This role requires individuals who can work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. ________________________________________ Scope of Work and Responsibilities The Central Office Technician will be responsible for reading and executing work based on Circuit Layout Records (CLR) and engineering designs. Duties include installing, removing, and running copper and fiber jumpers within Central Office Main Distribution Frames (CO MDF), building MDFs, and outside plant cabinets for analog and digital POTS lines, DSL services, and special service circuits such as DS0 and DS1, with a large portion of the work involving disconnect activities. The technician will perform cross-connects for DSX1, DSX3, and fiber systems, as well as support SONET and WDM Layer 1 node configurations associated with equipment consolidation efforts. Responsibilities also include tracing and verifying circuit paths (A and Z locations) where records may be inaccurate. Additional tasks include decommissioning activities such as jumper removal, fuse pulling, measuring power consumption, powering down equipment, disconnecting power leads, and occasionally removing line cards or equipment shelves. The technician will also be responsible for mounting and installing equipment in racks or cabinets, running and terminating cabling between racks, and configuring equipment for remote access and management (OAM&P). The role includes installation of central office infrastructure such as relay racks, cabinets, fuse panels, rectifiers, DC power cabling, and battery systems. The technician may assist with central office space planning and support colocation activities by conducting site surveys to evaluate space, power, and access requirements as directed by engineering or planning teams. ________________________________________ Reporting Requirements The technician will be expected to support productivity tracking efforts, including providing input for reports that establish baseline performance and identify opportunities for improving efficiency. ________________________________________ Work Schedule All work will be performed according to schedules specified in project work orders and may include after-hours or maintenance window activities depending on operational requirements. ________________________________________ Qualifications Candidates should have experience working in telecom Central Office environments and possess a strong understanding of copper and fiber cross-connect systems. The ability to read and interpret Circuit Layout Records (CLR) is required, along with hands-on experience with DC power systems and telecom equipment installation. Candidates must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Preferred experience includes familiarity with SONET and WDM systems, prior work within Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) environments, and strong troubleshooting and circuit tracing capabilities.

$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
