Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structured Cabling Installer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling systems that support data, voice, video, and security networks across various commercial and industrial sites. Your expertise will ensure reliable connectivity and optimal network performance by following industry standards and safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, develop your technical skills, and contribute to the seamless operation of vital communication infrastructure. Responsibilities Install, terminate, and test cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low voltage wiring in accordance with schematics and industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code). Use hand tools and power tools to run cables through walls, ceilings, conduit, and cable trays while ensuring proper labeling and documentation. Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and network diagrams to accurately execute installations. Perform fiber splicing and troubleshoot connectivity issues related to Ethernet, VoIP systems, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and other network hardware. Conduct site surveys to determine optimal cabling routes and identify potential challenges before installation. Test installed cabling using ohmmeters and other testing equipment to verify performance standards are met. Collaborate with field service teams to support network installation projects in data centers or telecommunication environments while maintaining high safety standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a structured cabling installer or service technician with a strong understanding of computer networking concepts. Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), telephony systems (including Avaya), and telecommunication infrastructure. Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, NEC codes, and low voltage wiring practices. Ability to operate hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, drills, power saws, along with electrical testing equipment like ohmmeters. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members. Physical capability to lift heavy equipment, work at heights or in confined spaces while maintaining safety protocols.
