- Baltimore, Maryland Full-Time | Field Operations | Leadership Role Position Summary The Lead Access Control & Camera Technician is a senior-level field role responsible for overseeing the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and quality assurance of commercial security systems, including IP video surveillance, access control, intercom, and supporting network infrastructure.
This position provides on-site leadership to technicians, ensures project standards are met, and represents Odin Technologies with professionalism and technical expertise. Key Responsibilities Technical Execution Install, program, and commission enterprise-grade access control systems including controllers, door hardware, readers, power supplies, REX devices, maglocks, and strikes. Install and configure IP cameras, NVRs, VMS platforms, and supporting network components. Perform system testing, validation, and documentation to ensure full operational readiness. Diagnose and resolve complex system issues across hardware, software, and network layers. Ensure all work meets Odin Technologies' quality standards, NEC/low-voltage codes, and manufacturer specifications. Leadership & Oversight Lead field teams on multi-day or multi-phase projects; assign tasks and ensure efficient workflow. Train and mentor apprentices and technicians on installation standards, safety, and best practices. Serve as the on-site point of contact for project managers, clients, and general contractors. Review drawings, device layouts, and project scopes to ensure accurate execution. Conduct final walkthroughs and ensure punch-list items are completed. Project Coordination Collaborate with Operations and Project Management to plan labor, materials, and timelines. Provide feedback on design improvements, field conditions, and change-order needs. Maintain accurate daily documentation including time entries, notes, and as-built updates. Ensure all equipment is installed according to approved plans and manufacturer guidelines. Customer Interaction Communicate professionally with clients, providing clear explanations of system functionality and project progress. Conduct end-user training on access control and video systems. Represent Odin Technologies with a customer-focused, solutions-driven approach. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience installing and servicing access control and IP camera systems. Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, terminations, and structured cabling standards. Proficiency with leading platforms such as Hanwha, Axis, HID, Mercury, Openpath, and Avigilon. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics. Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network environments. Valid driver's license and ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in commercial environments. Must be able to work within the Maryland Prison System. Must have a Maryland Security Technician License, or have the ability to possess this within 90 days. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading field teams or acting as a senior technician. Certifications such as Hanwha Wisenet, Genetec, Milestone, Lenel, or equivalent. Familiarity with network switches, VLANs, PoE, and basic IP addressing.
