Job Description

FIELD TECHNICIAN
Michigan Broadband Services is looking for a talented Field Technician to join our team. This position will service Escanaba and the surrounding areas, although you may be required to work in other geographical areas that we service. The ideal applicant will be willing to perform physical labor, work efficiently, and must be highly self-motivated. Must also be willing to enter customer premises in a respectful manner. This position offers a highly competitive wage and a full benefit package. Training and tools are provided. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair telephone and cable TV facilities including coaxial cable and fiber. Maintain subscriber carrier systems, terminals, protection devices and customer owned equipment. Diagnose and repair switching equipment, voice frequency repeaters, loop extenders and cable loading systems. Ability to install and repair modems, drops, and any other necessary equipment in customer homes and businesses. Ability to use small hand tools, power tools and test equipment. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets and service order/repair tickets. Must always represent the company in a professional manner. Schedule is Monday - Friday but occasionally may require overtime and weekend work. Qualifications Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to pass a background check. Valid driver's license required. Ability to lift 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and ladder climb. Knowledge of fiber installation and splicing is a bonus but not required. High school diploma is required.
