Leadership Full Job Description About Shareco Communications:
Shareco Communications, an Allied Electric company, is a 30-year-old low voltage and communications contractor, specializing in providing structured cabling systems across commercial, industrial, and healthcare environments. Based in Grand Rapids, we service a wide range of job locations throughout the greater Grand Rapids area and the Midwest Region.
Job Summary:
The Low Voltage Field Technician III will be responsible for the on-site installation of voice, data, and fiber optic structured cabling systems, as well as repairing and troubleshooting any system issues. This role requires expertise in advanced low voltage systems, including VOIP programming, wireless access point surveys, and supervising junior technicians on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Troubleshooting:
Perform on-site installation of voice, data, and fiber optic cabling systems, ensuring all work meets quality standards and deadlines. Troubleshoot and repair any system problems that arise during installation or post-installation. Conduct cable testing and document results for all media types (UTP, fiber, coax, etc.). Terminate voice and data jacks and data cables on patch panels as required. Work with UTP, optical fiber, coax, and pathways and supports to ensure effective system installation. Perform cable pulling, suspension, fireproofing, terminating, and testing in compliance with NEC and local regulations.
System Setup and Programming:
Program VOIP systems and configure wireless access points as needed for the project. Build out MDF and IDF areas, including racks, patch panels, wire managers, and network electronics.
Supervision and Coordination:
Provide daily supervision to one or more installers or low voltage technicians on-site, ensuring proper task execution and safety. Coordinate installation activities with other trades to ensure smooth project flow and adherence to schedules. Provide daily written (email reports) to supervisor.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all installations meet safety standards, including compliance with NEC and OSHA regulations. Use basic pipe bending and conduit fitting techniques when required for installations. Full operator competency and knowledge off platform and boom lifts.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by management. Available for needed overtime Available for on-call rotations
Qualifications Experience and Certifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the voice/data industry. BICSI Certification preferred or a thorough understanding of BICSI Level III Technician requirements and qualifications. Proven experience as a primary contact with clients and customers for service and emergency service work. Strong ability to travel to job sites as required. Knowledge of NEC, OSHA and local code requirements and standards. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Technical Skills:
Excellent understanding of VOIP programming and wireless access point survey and programming. Proficient in reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation/layout.
Leadership and Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong supervisory and leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing technical teams. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues in the field.
