Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Low Voltage Technician . The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of low voltage systems, including but not limited to data cabling, CCTV, and network infrastructures. The technician will work closely with both customers and internal teams to ensure efficient, high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities:
Route, pull, and terminate various ethernet and coaxial cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Direct Burial Ethernet, RG6, etc.) for new and existing network infrastructures. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot low voltage systems:
Structured Cabling IP Security Cameras Networking Equipment IT Peripherals:
Phones, Printers, Scanners, Workstations, Servers Audiovisual Equipment Conduct site surveys, assess needs, and determine optimal placement for network devices and wiring. Test and troubleshoot connectivity issues and make necessary adjustments or repairs. Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to properly wire and configure systems. Ensure all installations meet industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Provide customer support and training for systems installed, ensuring full understanding of the setup. Collaborate with Low Voltage Lead, Project Manager and other technical staff to ensure project timelines and specifications are met. Update support tickets with work performed and maintain internal documentation.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Low Voltage Technician. Experience with structured cabling (Cat 5e, Cat 6, fiber optics) and network infrastructure installations. Proficient in testing and troubleshooting tools (e.g., cable testers, multimeters, network analyzers). Familiarity with relevant industry standards (TIA/EIA, ANSI, NEC) and safety regulations. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team. Ability to work in various environments, including commercial, industrial, and residential settings. Certification in low voltage systems (e.g., BICSI, CTS, etc.) is a plus.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification in Low Voltage Systems preferred. 2+ years of experience in low voltage systems installation and network knowledge. Driver's License Legal authorization to work in the U.S. Must be available occasionally on nights and weekends to perform off-hour maintenance and projects Must pass a background and driving record check Experience Network Cabling (Copper): 2+ years (Required)
CCTV:
2+ years (Required) Network Cabling (Fiber): 2+ years (Required) Telephony (troubleshoot analog lines): 1 year (Preferred)
Audio-Video:
1 year (Preferred) Minimum Basic Hand Tools Multi-tool screwdriver Wire strippers 12-24AWG Flush cut pliers RJ45 crimper (suggest one that has a built-in cable stripper)
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Ability to lift 50+ pounds Work from ladders, man lifts, or reach booms Fully squat, stoop, or kneel while wearing a tool belt Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions and environments with potentially high noise volumes Comfortable working in enclosed or small environments
