Job Description

Job Description One of Insight Global's clients is seeking an Infrastructure Technician III (Lead) to support and lead on-site structured cabling and infrastructure projects. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who is willing to travel to client sites in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Denver, and Phoenix as needed.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead on-site installation and service of: ○ Low-voltage structured cabling ○ Fiber optic cabling ○ Communications and network cabling systems
  • Install and remove: ○ Structured cabling components ○ Cabinets, racks, and communication equipment ○ Cable pathways (ladders, trays, support systems)
  • Serve as on-site team lead and support Operations Managers with: ○ Technician oversight ○ Performance feedback ○ Local site requirements
  • Install network equipment in Layer 1 capacity only (no configuration): ○ Access points ○ Routers ○ Switches ○ WLAN controllers ○ Modems
  • Attend client meetings and provide progress updates
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Support PMs with scope, SOWs, and service requests
  • Manage materials to ensure onsite availability and readiness
  • Ensure safety, quality, and industry standards compliance
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair cabling infrastructure
  • Perform site surveys and document findings for Sales Engineering
  • Execute test plans and project milestones
  • Complete project closeout documentation: ○ Test results ○ As-builts ○ Photos ○ Quality audits
  • Maintain daily activity logs, runbooks, and project task reporting

  • MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO PHILADELPHIA, PITTSBURGH, CHICAGO, DENVER, AND PHEONIX
  • 6+ years of experience as a Site Support Technician and/or Infrastructure Technician (or similar)
  • 3+ years of experience as an on-site team lead
  • 3+ years installing network equipment in a Layer 1 capacity (no configuration)
  • Hands-on experience installing, terminating, and testing low-voltage cabling, including:
  • Twisted pair
  • Coax
  • Power-limited tray cable
  • Stranded & solid conductor cable
  • Fiber optic cable
  • Ability to install cable pathways and conveyance systems (ladders, trays, supports)
  • Advanced knowledge of cabling standards (BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, NEC)
  • Ability to read blueprints and architectural/mechanical/electrical drawings
  • Strong client-facing communication skills
  • Valid driver's license Physical requirements:
  • Carry up to 30 lbs
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Climb ladders and work at heights
  • Associate degree or technical certification (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years working in: ○ Retail ○ Consumer ○ Industrial environments
  • Industry certifications: ○
CNET CNCI
○ BICSI Installer (INST1) ○ BICSI Installer 2 (INSTC / INSTF) ○ BICSI Technician (TECH) ○ Manufacturer certifications
  • Experience with through-wall penetration systems
  • Advanced knowledge of telecom, data, security, and wireless cabling systems
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety standards
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
