Cable Technician Contractor

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician to join our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications and network systems. This role requires technical expertise in fiber splicing, network installation, and low voltage wiring, with a focus on delivering high-quality service in various field environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience working with telecommunication equipment, ensuring reliable connectivity for clients. Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, and repair coax/fiber and Ethernet cabling systems Perform coax/fiber splicing and termination to ensure optimal signal transmission Set up and configure routers, switches, and other networking equipment Conduct network installation and maintenance for telecommunication systems Use hand tools and testing devices such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical issues Assist with telephony system setup and troubleshooting Work in the field to perform service calls at client sites, ensuring minimal downtime Follow safety protocols related to low voltage and electrical work during installations and repairs Document work performed accurately and communicate progress to supervisors Skills Experience with coax/ fiber and network installation Knowledge of routers, Ethernet wiring, telecommunication systems, and telephony setups Strong understanding of computer networking principles and low voltage wiring techniques Experience working as a field service technician or service technician in telecommunication or electrical environments Proficiency with hand tools, testing equipment (such as ohmmeters), and mechanical knowledge of cabling systems Ability to interpret technical diagrams and schematics related to cabling and electrical systems Mechanical aptitude combined with electrical experience for troubleshooting complex issues Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in high-pressure situations Ability to work independently in various field environments while adhering to safety standards This position offers an opportunity for a technically skilled professional to contribute to vital communication infrastructure projects while advancing their expertise within the telecommunications industry.
